Wintegra's WinPath Processors Integrated Into Texas Instruments' Newest DSL Central Office Solution
VENICE, ITALY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 20-09-2004 --
Broadband World Forum -- Wintegra Inc., a
fabless semiconductor company focused on the access infrastructure market,
today announced that Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) is
using its WinPath Access Packet Processor family as the data management
portion of their complete Integrated Voice and Data (IVD) reference design.
With this IVD reference platform, TI adds to its rich DSL system solution
portfolio. The IVD platform cuts development effort for DSL system
designers and expedites time to market for state-of-the-art integrated
voice and data products.
TI's use of WinPath's Access Packet Processors allows IVD customers to opt
for numerous uplink options for their reference platform, including Gigabit
Ethernet, 10/100 Mbit Ethernet, plus OC-3 or OC-12 ATM connectivity. The
WinPath devices used by TI simultaneously support TDM, Ethernet, and ATM,
and are easily adapted for the requisite IVD interfaces.
Wintegra offers numerous software solutions like Transparent Bridging or
VLAN-Enabled Bridging -- both between ATM and Ethernet -- which can be run
on the IVD platform. These allow prospective customers to observe
real-time, system-wide performance in their own designs. These routines
are written in easily modifiable C code and run under popular operating
systems such as VxWorks or Linux.
"By utilizing WinPath devices, the IVD platform capitalized on Wintegra's
production-ready data path software and leveraged the acceptance these
devices have acquired in the DSL market place," said Ben Wagner, Worldwide
Director of Marketing for TI's DSL business unit. "WinPath devices have
provided our IVD platform a feature-rich, software-upgradeable showcase
vehicle to demonstrate our market-leading DSL products."
"The TI IVD platform has been a great example of how our silicon and
software solution can be quickly turned into a demonstrable, flexible
reference platform," said Robert O'Dell, Senior VP of Marketing from
Wintegra. "We provide a compelling DSL solution that enables our partners
and customers to build complete systems in a short amount of time."
